I increased client comms using a simple Chrome Extension for Gmail – Recurring Emails for Gmail

Hilary

I wrote a blog piece for a client on automating your processes to increase efficiency, so I looked at my own micro-business and thought about what would make the biggest difference with the smallest effort!

I always thought I was pretty good with client communication, so when one of them asked me for my rotation schedule so they had more notice of when I’d be on their account, it got me thinking I wasn’t as good as I thought. That’s when it dawned on me that if I set up recurring emails every two weeks, giving the client a few days’ notice they would be both informed and have the opportunity to share hot topics and content. That would make my job easier too!

I went through a few options of paid for software, all of which were quite pricey before I landed on Recurring Emails for Gmail (REG). The main reason was because I wanted it to with work my existing emailer and for it to be easy to install and use.

All I had to do was go Pro with my REG account which cost a measly £28 a year, add the extension and hey presto, I can send each client an email every two weeks indefinitely.

Limitations

The only drawbacks are that I can’t include my usual email signature, and the Pro account limits the number of accounts I can send to. BUT if I want to add more clients to the list, I simply upgrade to Premium for around £50 a year. Still a really good price…

And I solved the signature issue by signing off with my name and mobile number and adding a PS that it was a recurring email and we may have had the conversation already... I don't think it needs more than that...

Easy to use

Setting up the recurring emails was really easy. I just add the recipients and subject as usual, then open the right-sidebar to access the recurring actions. I click the icon and go through step-by-step writing the email body and setting the schedule.

The schedules are as diverse as your client base so no matter how often you want to send an email, you can do it. With the Premium version, you can skip and pause sends, send one as an alias if you’re an agent and get unlimited schedules.
